One chapter coming to a close and another about to begin….
Journal Entry 19.12.2025
As we approach the end of the year, there’s a lot to catch up on, and much to reflect on - one chapter coming to a close, and another about to begin.
The past few years in Aotearoa have been a wonderful opportunity for my family and me. I am grateful for the time spent back on my whenua, reconnecting with family, friends, and community. In early 2026, we will be returning to Australia, which brings with it a period of transition: taking time to learn a few new skills while my workshop & tools are in transit.
The next weeks will be the last chance to purchase a selection of silver & gold pieces as my focus begins to shift toward new projects.
If you’re based in Auckland, I’d love to see you - pop into our showroom to say hi and secure a piece from the very limited stock on hand. Or if you’re not in town, shop online!
Our Ponsonby store and workshop will close in early January 2026. Holiday hours and key dates are listed below.
I really enjoyed putting together the last journal entry and plan to continue this visual format monthly, as a way to stay connected and share what’s unfolding during this exciting transition to Melbourne. I look forward to returning to the city where my jewellery journey began many years ago.
So, as we enter the final weeks of the year, our journal theme feels particularly fitting: something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.
X Emma Jane
Something Old
OLD - Gemstone Specimen Bracelet. One of the very first pieces of jewellery gifted to me by my “Little Nana.” I was allowed to choose it myself from a box of treasures - a costume piece, made from base metal with glued, boulder-like, colourful semi-precious stones.
It isn’t valuable in the traditional sense, but I love its essence: the underside reveals a clever folded tab construction, and the rhythm of the repeated chain links speaks to an intuitive, thoughtful making process.
Most importantly it reminds me of time spent with Celia, my Nana. This endlessly inspiring wahine wore a kilt every day, baked the best chocolate cake (routinely breaking to make a quick phone call to the T.A.B), loved visual arts, Mahjong with friends, and was known for her ikebana floristry.
I love you Little Nana.
Something new
Gold Pyramid Diamond Charm Necklace, back in stock in store and online.
Gold Dipped Jewellery
Two new sterling silver pieces, luxuriously dipped in 23ct yellow gold - Knife Edge Gold Dipped Pendant Chain Necklace and Knife Edge Gold Dipped Right Angle Earrings (sold as singles).
Something borrowed
BORROWED - A bit of Grey Lynn rubble, reimagined as a concrete plinth to display a Knife Edge 6 Cuff in store. I “borrowed” it from a building site down the road.
Something blue
BLUE - With change comes the ebbs and flows of emotions - sometimes leaving you a little blue. Reflecting on the things I’ll miss, here are a few of my favourite spots from my time spent in Ponsonby, including small local businesses that are well worth a visit.
